Re that rifle on the blog: I suspect it’s a double-barrel shotgun, since it has 2 triggers. Anyone have a better guess?

Ah, random poetry! I haven’t had so much fun since I gave up Madame Blavatsky and my ouija board….

Charlie Brown’s trademark zigzag, which did not appear on his shirt until several weeks after the start of Peanuts, probably was inspired by George Herriman’s “Krazy Kat” imagery. The zigzag there could represent anything from lightning to a doodle to the angular twists in “Krazy’s” tail. In turn it was probably inspired by images on Native American pottery and rock drawings/carvings indigenous to Coconino Co. Arizona, a favorite vacation spot of Herriman’s and the setting for his most famous strip.

Wow, what a body-blow to the American Cancer Society, especially the part about the $914K to the CEO. And I am definitely pro-wealth, where I think people should be able to earn whatever they can, but only in private industry. People shouldn’t get rich off the government, and people shouldn’t get rich off other people’s donations. Both of the latter lead to institutional corruption.

“GUITAR” on blog is a copy (huge, apparently) of an approx. 50’s Fender bass guitar.

The blog was terrific today, Teresa. I loved the Off To School picture and the Dionne quints doing Karo syrup.

Re: the Rifle – Don’t think its a rifle at all, but a black powder double barrel shotgun. Muzzle loader, as there is no “breach” line; and cap fired – caps fit over the nipple where the hammer strikes. YMMV
