I worked as a respiratory tech back in the 90s, and set up and instructed people using CPAP in their homes. It stands for Continuously Positive Airway Pressure. It involves a mask which fits tightly over the nose, and blows air from a compressor through the nose and out the mouth, keeping the tongue from falling back and closing off the airway. For those who can tolerate it, it is a Godsend, and an answer to prayer. But not everyone can stand sleeping with the mask on, or the noise from the machine.
Grampa is simply having trouble finding a sock type that begins with “Z”. I have a computer in fron of me and couldn’t find one. Good job to Earl for trying hard in the face of adversity :)
I used to have sleep apnea, then lost about 30 pounds. I still snore, but no longer fight to breathe in my sleep. My mother does sleep with a CPAP machine, and she loves it. To say there is no such thing as sleep apnea, please do some research on the subject.
I switched from the mask to the nasal cannula and really like it. @ cathy dresser, do some research on Apnea. Just because you haven’t experienced something does not mean it doesn’t exist. It is a very real problem and in some cases it has had deadly consequences.
I had weight loss surgery … lost 140 lbs total, too … had sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome though much less frequently now … had to take a sleep study, but found I had claustrophobia and I could not handle the C-PAP mask – felt like I was drowning … even after my surgery, while still under effects of anesthesia, I reached up and pulled off my oxygen mask and told the nurse, “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe” … don’t remember it at all – she told me later … they put a oxygen tube in my nose instead.

The brain is active even when you’re asleep…leave Earl alone. He needs a sign by his chair..“Man At Work”.

You better make Earl get checked out for SleepApnia Opal. You don’t want him to end up likeReggie White did.

@SCAATY_423 Thank you very much for your comment. I have had severe sleep apnea for several years and it is very dangerous if untreated.
