I didn’t understand what Vera did that prompted Sparkle to hit him. Now he’s the one who is arrested. I feel sorry for him. I think Sparkle should be arrested.
Vera’s obviously being used as a patsy of some kind but the question is “for what?” I’m wondering if they knew he had a history with the Tracy family when he was hired to illustrate the coloring book.
Tracy’s got the right idea – even though he’d probably want a front row seat to see Junior take out the trash.
(I’m really enjoying this story, especially the realistic behavior of Tracy and his extended family. I can’t wait to find out why Vera was drugged, and how it plays into the murder. We haven’t had a cause of death yet for the stiff Honeymoon discovered, have we? Or when he died, and how it fits into the time of the hit-and-run death, either.)Can’t wait for tomorrow’s installment!
I think Junior is still acutely aware of Moonmaid’s passing, and so will be protective. I can understand that, and admire Junior for that. But Dick’s right. He needs to stay back.
I enjoy the nostalgia, even the “fist growing out of shoulder” (Jr., P2). Is someone making fun of the previous artist, or is this an older DY strip characteristic? I don’t recall.
I just had something brought to my attention, and now I feel bad.HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY CHESTERYour strip is still alive and kicking. We are thinking of you.
Did Sparkle and the girls go on to church after she slugged Vera? And is it still Sunday morning when Junior finds out here? Can’t Dick let him have Sunday off to go to church with his family? Does Tracy ever go home?
Yes, I’m right sure they did adopt him. By the way, does anyone remember how Dick and Sam found Junior’s real mother? I was very little with it happened, so much that my mother had to read the strip to me while I looked at the pictures. But around the very early sixites there was a story in which Dick and Sam were called upon to investigate an old woman’s death. She had been killed by being hit by a golf ball that came through her window. While looking for clues, they found some old pictures of the woman and Junior who was very little at the time the pictures were made. They came to see that this was his real mother. But decided not to tell him for fear it would hurt him. Whether he ever found out, I don’t know.
I remember that story. In the end, a mysterious wreath was placed on the old lady’s grave, and it was intimated that perhaps Jr. had placed it there. Nothing was ever said to indicate for certain whether Jr. knew or didn’t know. He said he felt strangely drawn to the case, and, in fact, it was his sleuthing after school and on weekends that helped solve who killed the old lady.

Cool down, Junior, before you do something you’ll regret and/or spoil the case. Let your dad handle this one, as he said; you’re too personally close!

I think Vera’d whip up on Junior!

@ Sardonis,Naw, Vera seems like a real whimp. Plus Junior would have righteous anger on his side.

Did Dick and Tess ever legally adopt Junior?

I don’t have the comic books but, in a book I read, it mentioned that Dick and Tess Tracy did adopt and legally chabged the name of Junior.
