Danae: Uh...why have we stopped at this little stream, Lucy? Lucy: Something might be lurking in the water just waiting to pounce on and devour anyone who dares to cross...something like the dreaded gator-toad... Danae: It's only about a foot wide, so why not just jump over it? Lucy: Because gator-toads can leap up and snatch you in mid-air! Danae: There's no such thing as a gator-toad!! Lucy: Oh, really? Then you go ahead and jump across. Danae: Sure... This doesn't mean I believe you...it's just late and we have to go home now. Lucy: Mm-hmm... *giggle* Danae: Shut up.

Yes, but see, it’s not technically a toad, although that’s the common name for it…It’s actually a cross between a marsupial and a crocodile.. a lizard with a pouch to store left overs…and an attitude……

Oh, I so wanted to use the word newt, somehow….

Great little story that shows just how good an artist Wiley is.

I really prefer goad-taters. Especially cheese-flavored goad-taters.

[Fractured Literary Allusion] Monsters unseen are scarier by far.

Shouldn’t that be ‘Gator-frog:"? Toads live on land. Is a Gator-toad worse than a Crockagator? I don’t think so.

Crocagators gotta eat too.

Hey Wiley,Thanks a lot. Now I’ve got another “imaginary” thing to worry about. Let me see, there’s Nessie, and Yeti, and that Mothman guy and Chupracabra and Windigo and…….

Sounds like the name of a Syfy channel Saturday night movie.

Laughed out loud at the gator-toad’s comment. Thanks, Wiley!

You mean it isn’t spelled sh*t?
bluskies about 13 years ago
True; you should only cross a gator with the light, and only after looking both ways.

Fear the Gator-Toad…or just build a highly protected steel bridge.

Ah, but what it is that Wiley is showing a knowledge of is Horses and Riders This is a very common scenario with horses. Horses are inherently suspicious and unwilling to cross narrow, shallow bodies of waters. We have a rivulet running on our trails that we call crocodile creek because the horses act like there are crocs in it. When they finally cross, they jump so hard and so high that I’ve gotten my finger broken and a friend fell and broke her ribs. Thus, Danae’s willingness not to force the issue.

my horse will tell you it is the leader of the gatortoads that is to be feared “toadzilla”. We pay him homage by wearing the gatortoad colors of blue and green when we ride. This allows us to pass the creek without harm.
