“Crony capitalism” is not capitalism at all. It is a feature of the corruption caused by government interference in the mixed (or worse) economy in which crooks jockey for loot, politicians pander for power, and even the honest businessman must grovel before the bureaucrats to protect themselves. If you want to see real cronyism, just check into the relatives of the ruling elite in the dictatorship of your choice.
As for “economic inequities”, that means some people get paid more than others. Those who complain about that think they are pursuing some ideal of perfect equality, but the result of that goal is always the same: mass poverty. Again, check the dictatorship of your choice.

the rich have owned the republican party for decades at least, and have done a good job of getting conservatives to feel good about the fact that they are being screwed.

Apparently pschearer isn’t aware of thriving democracies with socialist policies like Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Canada…
The ‘strongman’ dictatorships that he talks about look a lot more like crony corporate oligarchy than socialist systems.

@NeoBlakkrstal- Being rich doesn’t make you a bad person, hence there are some rich liberals. The GOP speaks for big corporations and the wealthiest Americans, while claiming to want ‘opportunity for all’. The only opportunity they really offer is for the ultra-wealthy to exploit America’s people & resources for their benefit.

There’s nothing immoral about being wealthy, so long as the mechanism by which that wealth is gained does not in the process impoverish someone else. An example of a wealthy person who has impoverished no one is J. K. Rowling.
