My grandmother used to make the most delicious dish with oyster crackers, milk and butter. Oh it was good. I guess it was a staple during the depression. Never got the recipe. of course she never used recipes anyway.
That reminds me of the very first Thanksgiving turkey I made: I didn’t know that you were supposed to take out the bag with giblets. Fun surprise at the table!

Buttered crackers was a staple in my college days.If I was out of butter,I used ketchup.
