My daugher loves the IDEA of Santa, but is terrified of him in person. Big, red, can’t read his face; how DO we come up with these scarey-happy icons anyway? Same thing goes for clowns.
Fear of clowns = CoulrophobiaFear of Santa = Santaphobia
And I didn’t even have to look that one up.

My kid never asks to see the Mall Santa. I wonder if this girl is thinking of Pennywise?

Mall Santa Clauses as zombies? Wasn’t that a Doctor Who Christmas special one year?

I was afraid of Santa as a kid. It makes sense that kids would be afraid of Santa Claus and clowns. Both wear odd outfits, both have hidden or obscured faces, both act differently than normal adults, and kids are supposed to spend more time with than than normally with strangers.

My mother could never get me or my brother to go see Santa… not that strange for me, as I was a fearful child, but my brother never met a stranger….
