Yep. That sounds about right. The corporations won’t be happy until slavery or feudalism is reintroduced. And the right wingers like Americans for “Prosperity” are right there beating the drum. If they get their way we’ll all be slaves earning barely enough to survive while the 1% live in luxury. But of course my pointing that out is class warfare. How dare I.
Businesses exist to profit their owners. How could anyone assume that workers will be treated fairly when greed is the fundamental principle in operation? If I work for a company at $15.00 per hour, you can bet my labor is worth at least 8 times that to the employer. Buckminster Fuller’s “World Game” promotes the concept of making the world work, "for 100% of humanity, in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation, without ecological offense or the disadvantage of anyone.” There are a few ethical businesses out there who operate on a different foundation, but sadly they are few and far between. From where I sit, Arlecchino represents 90% of American companies.
Thisisretarded: You sincerely believe corporations want slavery or feudalism? How would that be good for business? Capitalists want prosperity for everyone. Besides, if you want to see real slavery and feudalism in the world today, look at the most socialist and most theocratic countries.
Old Wolf: Of COURSE a worker must be worth more to an employer than he is paid. If it were the other way around, there’d be no businesses to hire anyone. As for Bucky Fuller’s pipe dream, wouldn’t it be nice if all my wishes came magically true? Unicorns and fairy dust.
Ghostkeeper: There is so much wrong in what you say I’ll just address one item: The idea that the USSR was NOT socialist or communist is ludicrous. Besides the silly notion of an atheist theocracy, the fact that Communism IS a dogma doesn’t make it religious and DOESN’T make the USSR non-Communist or non-socialist. That’s just another variant of the claim that Communism is good in principle but has failed in practice (so let’s try to do it better the next time!).
Once upon a time, the president of Toyota was paid a certain multiple of the lowest paid employee. For him to get a raise, a lot of people had to get raises. This is the only case of “a rising tide lifts all boats” that I’ve heard of being effective.

In panel four Flavio shows that he may be uneducated, but he isn’t stupid.

Sounds like a Marx Brothers routine to me. Well used, Pab.

anyone here ever read “Atlas Shrugged”? a little wordy, but essential truth to why Communism will never succeed – human nature being what it is.
