Doesn’t Alex have a life of her own?

Uh…….that escapade ended badly.

If we follow Alex’s analogy, this partnership won’t end well for either of them. Alex have you forgot about about Leo already.

In the October 12 Alex asked Joanie if the roommate idea sounded too sitcomish. Joanie answered, “not if we avoid adventures.” Well, sitcom land, here we come.

Go Alex! Remember she was a (Howard) Deaniac. Now let her be a (Liz) Warreniac. The grandmother-granddaughter partnership will end well. Too early to say, “in a blaze of glory”, but not too early to say, “well”. Leo will make magic as a driver, co-conspirator. With Joanie’s experience, she will be able to mentor BOTH Leo and Alex. Let Trudeau be Trudeau, since he will be anyway, no matter what we say here. Go Alex! Go Leo! Go Joanie! Go Liz!

I loved the sunrises near Univ. of Mass. My professor didn’t like getting woken up that early when I knocked on her door but she went. Same age, I did my stint first.

I think this adventure will change Grams life. Adventure has a way of doing that to people. Of course the snake goes. He needs an adventure too.

Alex watches Thelma and Louise through the eyes of a younger generation than Joanie’s, for whom the movie was a heroic tale of womens’ liberation from the brutal patriarchy. To Alex, the movie celebrates a freedom she can take for granted while ignoring the tragic ending.

Massachusetts is more than just Boston.

It used to be that drivers crossing from Albany into MA via the Mass Turnpike got a vivid taste of Boston wit from the signs. They showed a Pilgrim hat pierced by an Indian’s arrow.Alex won’t see those signs, a casualty of political correctness. And even if they do go on the road, can you imagine GBT—-writing from his NY studio—-trying to capture the wild beauty of the Berkshires? Or even Bash Bish Falls? His Massachusetts probably mirrors that of the (Boston) Tea Partiers.

The route between Concord and New Haven goes through (or around) Boston and nowhere near western MA.

It’s like the strip is harkening back to the very early days, when Joanie herself hitched a ride on a motorcycle that led to her joining Walden commune.
