White Rumped vultures of southern Asia once numbered in the tens of millions, but during the past 10 years, their population has dropped by about 99.9%! Stick to his stomach! In June 2011, doctors operated on Ove Sohkberg of Lycksele, Sweden, and removed a sharp wooden stick that had been lodged in his abdomen causing stomach pain for 25 years! Drip... Drip... Drip... The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, USA, has an international Hall of Fame dedicated to water drainage!

Ove is not too ‘sharp’! He should eat something that will ‘stick’ to his ribs, not his stomach!

I thought the stick picture was a compass and surmised the story would be about something magnetic inside the guy. Then I enlarged it and read the thing…not as interesting as my version.
Now those vultures can go around lording it over the other vultures and say “we are the .1 percent”

He’s lucky that stick he swallowed didn’t kill him.(See Wikipedia article on author Sherwood Anderson.)

it doesn’t say how big the “stick” was, maybe he ate a hors d’oeuvre and forgot to take the toothpick out? or perhaps if it was bigger then that, he didn’t realize that you don’t eat the shish part of a shish kebab? (=

That’s what you get when your instructor only teaches you how to defend yourself from fruit instead of pointy sticks!
