Wow. I’m just the opposite. Although I never ever exercise, when I want something, I want it now, so I literally run to get it. OK, yeah, I’ve slowed down over the years, but I’m just impatient, so I run…
The most I run now is 60 feet. I hit a softball and run to first. Then yell ‘courtesy runner old fart on first!’ dog, I luv bar league softball.Did I mention that most of the guys on the team are 40 years younger than me?
Plodsbug: You are under the Monty Stratton rule? (Stratton was a major league pitcher who lost his leg in a hunting accident. He returned with an exception rule that he had to get to first on his own, but then a pinch runner could take over without him being removed from the lineup. Artificial legs weren’t what they are now.)
Another interesting case was Pete Grey, who was in the majors during WW-II and played for Dallas in the Texas League afterwards. His only special rule was that he could catch the ball, tuck it under his right stump, throw his glove off, and throw the ball back without it counting for an error. He had a mid to upper .200 batting average one-handed.
“Texas Leaguer” is still the name for a ball hit too far for an infielder and too short for an outfielder. It is usually good for a single and occasionally an RBI.
After the majors, Stratton played for Gainsville in the Big State League. I saw him play, but only heard Stratton’s play by play on the radio.
Metaphorical running vs real running, then we went on the tangent. As hippogriff said, “Basically it had to do with changes in activities due to age”which I think is P4.

I may not run in these situations but I do walk briskly. Have to; might forget what I’m going back for if I take too long.

Ask Plotsbug, he brought it up. Basically it had to do with changes in activities due to age. You will understand ultimately.
