Nero was at a villa outside of Rome when the fire broke out. When he heard about the disaster, he immediately returned to organize firefighting, rescue and relief efforts. The only grains of truth in the “fiddling while Rome burned” story were that he did, in fact, later blame the fire on his opponents for political reasons and he did compose a song accompanied on the lyre which praised the people who helped and lamented those who died.Fiddles weren’t even invented until about a thousand years after the Roman Empire ended.

I watched a Nat Geo on the burning of rome and their evidence said that Nero wasn’t even in Rome at the time.

Truthfully, the fiddle wasn’t even invented yet when Rome burned. Nero’s mind was fiddled.
