Geez, this is kinda late, isn’t it? Must have been some kinda glitch somewhere. Just like if Andy was in the Army, that would be a big glitch.

Have you seen the forms???? No wonder he got a cramp!

I seem to remember way back in the days this strip first started, he had been at Tobruk.

He used to wear an overcoat with a medal.

I remember an old strip where Flo claimed Andy actually served as a Tommy—what’s up with this?

I also remember Andy as having been in the armed service.

If he was an officer, would he have been Capt. Capp?

I’m surprised Andy made it to the Army take too much effort on his part. No having fun like soccer, darts, and beer.

He was just having a pint with the recruiter…

Didn’t he also have an old army coat that Flo wanted him to dispose of?

Good ol’ Andy, love that guy.

There was also an old strip where the Labour Exchange fellow asked if he’d had any experience drilling. “Yes, sir! with the Fusiliers!”

How was it?

There’s no doubt about it. Andy was in the Army. I distinctly remember him.

I remember from years ago when Andy claimed to have destroyed several supply and ammo dumps in the Army. And that was before he went overseas. Mahoney, Goldsmith and Garnett need to learn the history of the strip, that’s for sure.

Andy’s supplies were very popular.

As a long time reader of th is strip, Andy was a vet of the big one WW11. There was many a strip of him heading off to reunion with his outfit. I am sure he was a gold bricker in the Army as he is now.

Andy was in the service in the original strips, serve in the Army.

It’s possibly a word used in a previous strip.

In the first strips Andy was a proud vet of the desert war; he would go to his regimental reunions fairly often; its a bit sad that the strip was changed so much.

The Andy Capp I remember always wore an Army great coat

At his age, he was either in the war or would have had to do National Service

He actually was a fusilier and had gone across the desert.
