According to Wikipedia, this (5 December) is in fact Walt Disney’s birthday. So Lio’s bait for “The Mouse” is appropriate. Good luck, Lio! Have fun with Disney Inc. Legal….
Berke Breathed could tell you a thing or two about that. When the old Outland strip first started, he introduced a character named ‘Mortimer’ Mouse, supposedly Mickey;s indigent cousin…or something like that. Mort lasted about two minutes before the big D came down hard on Breathed and forced him to withdraw the character from the strip
The Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled for the free speech rights of parody artists vs plagiarism suits. Most people just don’t want to pay enough lawyers to take the mouse that far. http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/17/107.html
Walt’s lawyers won’t do anything. At this point Mark couldn’t sell his soul to get liability insurance. Fastest way to make an attorney leave – “I’m broke.”
Are you sure this is a good idea, Mark? After all, Diz-knee is pretty sue-happy when someone uses their name, much less one of their trademarks, without express written consent and a bribe…er, “usage fee.”
I’m not that big a fan of “rubber hose animation” Mickey. The same can be said about early Snoopy; I prefer the look he took on in the Sixties onward (with the huge muzzle and tiny dot nose instead of his earliest appearances as a standard dog).

That’s the old scrappy Mickey; the mouse trap doesn’t stand a chance.

Disney characters: the third rail of cartooning. Mark must be feeling suicidal.

As Harlan Ellison would say, “don’t #&*@ with the Mouse.” But I believe this is fair use.

It’s like a popular saying: The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

Considering this is a cartoon strip- I’m not worried about Mickey.
I’m worried about Mark though.

I have seen a few Three Stooges shorts and I know Larry said it. And if you don’t believe me check the episodes called.
