Roz: So the skipper says to expect even more "turbulence." Melissa: Is that what they call it? Roz: Apparently, the insurgents want to make it look like they're driving us out. Melissa: Right. It's all about the optics. Roz: Well, I hadn't heard that. Might be time for a change. Melissa: A change from what? Roz: Getting all my news from "Jersey Shore." Melissa: News?

“Sir, we have a situation.” “What, there’s more than one of them?”

Roz’s news source is a “reality” (read “unreality”) TV series that “has garnered record ratings for MTV, making it the network’s most viewed series telecast ever” (Wikipedia). Mel shows Roz that she knows better, by cynically shooting back: “News?” The point: many people, both Americans in Iraq and back home in the U.S., are getting skewed views (“optics”), dominated by the neocon right-wing. The wing that skew-viewed us into that war is now skew-viewing us out.

The only thing I ever got from “The Jersey Shore” was a nasty case of nausea…

You aren’t truly informed, if you don’t watch Jon Stewert.

Can’t wait for the Trump debate. He’s hoping none of the candidates will appear so he can run on a third party ticket, yeh that’s the ticket.

While evil Trudueau keeps gaining in evil power, you continue to do nothing but complain. You’re all whine and no spine.

So the new cool term for insurgent Taliban backside-booting us out of Iraq is “turbulence”, huh? Like the weather? Like we’re an airliner “on course” for getting out and they’re making our exit difficult? And Roz thinks, “The insurgents want to make it look like they’re driving us out.” She must have gotten that from “Jersey Shore”. Makes me wonder what Jon Stewart has to say about that.

It could have been worse (for us, of course). Several years ago i was afraid we’d have to fight our way across the desert to Kuwait. It seems to me they “deadenders” are only blowing up the people they intend to terrorize more thoroughly once we’re gone. We actually have never been any good at preventing violence against the native Iraqis. Those are the people I truly feel sorry for whenever I curse Bush for causing this cluster.

Stewart does drive the nail home accurately. Just started getting the show, and I can see why he drives the right nuts, he’s actually funny, and accurate. Colbert also wields a might sword. Rush just needs to get off they Oxy?
As to our “incursions” abroad, exactly when DID Afghans and Iraqis elect “W” president? Even Obama is not in the line of succession, but at least he realized it, though our right-wingers have again forgotten.

And that’s exactly why Iraq had to have a Saddam to sit on them and keep them from killing each other. He probably was more brutal than he needed to be, but dictators seem to err on the side of caution when it comes to staying in power. The Middle East is a very rough neighborhood.

“the Skipper?” Any morearmy IA vets out there to clarify? In my day we called him the C.O. or “the old man.” Skipper is navy, or Gilligan’s Island.
