My wife and I agreed many, many years ago that it was foolish to buy each other gifts for Xmas and B-days because when we wanted something we would normally just go and buy it. We felt that our relationship was not built on giving/receiving gifts. I know that doesn’t work for everyone but we got along just fine for 48 years not getting and giving any gifts.
When my brother-in-law bought his Christmas gift my sister made him wrap it and wait until Christmas day to open. Reason she needed a coat and he made her wrap it and wait until Christmas to open. Earl you should not have said anything. Opal I don’t blame you for saying grrrr.
“Rule one…don’t buy yourself anything in December.”
The chances of my clueless (but lovable) family buying me anything remotely resembling the types of things I’d like (which this December includes a new shifter for my racing sim wheel, the War of the Ring boardgame, and a book on interstellar travel) is extremely miniscule. I typically get gift cards or cash anyway.
My wife told me I couldn’t buy anything for myself before Christmas for this very reason. This year, we added her to that rule because she bought an iPhone the day before I bought her one for Christmas. ;-)
I tried giving my husband a list with lots of choices but it seems he didn’t want to give me something “predictable” so I didn’t often get what I wanted. Guess people look at things in many ways.

I bought a $2500.00 riding lawnmower Christmas present for me because no one else was going to buy me one.

Opal just take it back like you always do. You know the drill.
MeliM almost 13 years ago
I think it IS the drill you bought last week Earl. Unless you forgot and bought two. Cuz Opal didn’t know what it was or who it was from either

Life lesson: Don’t buy yourself ANYTHING in December else you’ll have two come Christmas Day. :-) Oh, consumables excluded. ;-)
