Ha! One quibble: the tree doesn’t look that coordinated. I mean, really: blue, orange, red, gold? What? Ew. Now, my tree is all maroon and gold. When I was still in high school, my family told me to pick my tree colors… and every year, they would buy me a few beautiful ornaments in the color family—and use them while wrapping my gifts. Now I have a tree full of gorgeous ornaments that all match, have memories attached, and make it look like I went out and spent more than a thousand dollars. Not bad for a grad student!
Those trees are pretty, but I think they lack warmth. I like a homey tree with mismatched ornaments collected over the years. We add a few homemade ones every year and our tree is beautiful.

Jkissmya—that’s why I think my family tradition has the best of both worlds. We get gorgeous trees and the memories that go along with each ornament.
