You little con artist Annie. And at Christmas time. But I have to say I was laughing when I read the punch line.

It’s cute because she’s a little girl – not an adult. This is hardly the first time this theme has appeared in the comics. The joke is the overly sophisticated and scheming child getting over on the unsuspecting adult. In this story (and it IS a story), Annie is in the process of learning morals – but she’s learning it from a flawed Lila who is still trying to learn herself.

She is a little girl who has had to accept the harsh realities of life and grow up before having the chance to be a child. Thankfully Annie is a cartoon character but lets not forget there are thousands of children like her. Granted most probably don’t have a bookie on speed dial.
