I make it a point of using full, grammatically correct sentences when I text, especially with my children. It takes me less time to write correctly than for them to use all the abbreviations.

My grammar tried to read a text message while driving—so it was the death of grammar.

Well, not really. But I too try to keep up a certain standard of English. Except when using slang to make a point.

scatty: And loses all the meaning conveyed by inflection. It isn’t Chinese, but English is an inflected language – all punctuation is in it as well as what emoticons are a pitiful substitute. I don’t even like disembodied voices, which lose the message of facial expression and body language.
