Luann: How do parents get to be so weird? Luann: Sometimes my parents say the dumbest things! Luann: Like, if I want to get my ears pierced because Delta's are, they'll say: "and if Delta shaved her head, you'd do that too? Luann: or "I didn't get mine pierced 'til I was 36!" Bernice: Yeah. Whenever I'm bored my mom says, "good! Go clean your filthy room!" Luann: My mom says, "I wish I had time to be bored" Bernice: My Dad's always saying, "When I was your age, I worked all day for 25 cents!" Luann: My dad's favorite line is, "Im not made of money, y'know!" Bernice: My parents always say "I hope your children treat you better than you treat us!" Luann: Boy, when I'm a parent I'll never say that dumb stuff to my kids! Bernice: Me Either!!

They’ll make those comments to their children anyway. Then they’ll be horrified that they’re turning into their parents! (Much like their parents once promised never to do so themselves! One of the many circles of life.)

Puddles’s reaction in the last panel seems about right. Luann and Bernice will DEFINITELY use ‘parent-isms’ on their kids.
