Which was no gift at all. Even if you’re a believer of some religious mythology it is just a matter of time before your miss-guided faith will get up and bite you in the ass. If you go looking for God and you find him or her, kill them. It is the only sane answer. It is a dog eat dog, survival of the fittest world and the rest be damned. Just ask the 1%…hell how do you think they got were they are, it sure wasn’t by prayer and religious propriety.

Happy Winter Solstice! Oh…what? Christians hijacked that? They now claim this time of year is THEIR time of year? Well, big deal! It’s not like anyone is going to fall for their tric—what? They all fell for it? %&#$!

“The capacity of atheists to be disparaging never ceases to amaze me. Atheism is a belief, and of all of beliefs out there, atheism should be the most reviled. It removes even hope from mankind’s life.”The capacity of religious zealots to not follow morals they expect others to follow never ceases to amaze me.BTW, You don’t have to be a Christian to believe in sentiment “Peace on Earth, goodwill toward Men.” While I don’t celebrate Christmas as the birth of any religious savior (evidence points to the contrary), I do celebrate it as a time to reconnect with friends and family.

I feel with and for you, tcl. I’ve been going through some of the same in the last two years. My sister, whom I loved as much as I have ever loved anyone, died early in 2011. I miss her so much. I don’t happen to believe in anything after death, so I have to believe that we should do our best while we’re alive. That doesn’t mean making a lot of money, or becoming famous — lots of silly people can do those things — but being good to the people you love, and trying to contribute to the good of society as well. I think fennec is right on when he says that our legacies are mostly local. And they really do matter.
