I’ve seen a picture of a Japanese aircraft carrier, circa 1944, with its deck camouflaged to look like the deck of a battleship.

I dunno what the point of that was, but it obviously didn’t work; that pic was taken from the cockpit of a US Navy dive bomber—just before the pilor dropped his load.

It didn’t work too well on the East Coast of the USA where we lost too many ships.

Wasn’t it the Philidelpha experiment where the US claimed to make a ship invisable?

At one time, British and German ships were being redone, ie add an extra dummy smoke stack, etc to look like each others ships. At one time, a German battleship came upon another ship – that looked like itself! As I recall, this was a readers Digest article – The ship that hunted itself.

Hey Mutt, how would you like to buy this magic stick that keeps elephants away, for only $50?

Jeff is a great camouflager. Mutt will never spot the ship. But Jeff may be looking for a split lip of his own when Mutt finds out he’s been duped!

That’s like the guy who approachs you with a gun in his holster western style, and claims to have the world’s fastest draw. He says do want to see it, and when you answer yes, without any sign of movement, he says do you want to see it again.
