Sometimes genes skip generations, and you get a child that looks like you uncle or aunt on dad’s side of the family. Maybe that’s what is happening here.

actually, they both have both genes, the bad worth ethic of paige and peter are from the dad, and their common sense from their mom, mostly. Jason on the other hand has a good worth ethic from his mom, but his common sense is severely lacking, hence his dad.
