Welcome Back Dogsniff!!!Now that we know where the line is, (I have crossed it once or twice also) let us make sure not to….. ummm… upset, the powers that be!!
It’s so nice to know your life has meaning again. “Down in the dumps” over not being able to contribute to the banter of a comic strip? They make meds for that.
@ Dogsniff I haven’t been on that long, but have really missed your wit and way of looking at things in the strips … still don’t know what you did to be banned, but welcome back!
A roaring fire on a cold winter’s day and a warm, cuddly friend to enjoy it with. The only thing preventing this scene from being completely perfect is the absence a nice cup of hot cocoa and a good book to read!
@mythreesons: Yeah, I looked for a comic with Snoopy coming home after being jailed for using inappropriate language, but I couldn’t find one. This is the best I could do, but it does capture the feelings of the day that are shared by many of us here. Then again, sometimes being in the hospital can feel like you are in jail. And if you listen closely, in the last frame with Charlie Brown hugging Snoopy, you may be able to hear the dog sniff.
I sent a thank-you to GoComics for responding to our Dogsniff emails and reversing their decision. They are human too, and at times they must get very tired of dealing with complaints and problems day after day. I’m sure that in many cases they are in the position of trying to balance requests from readers who want totally opposite things, as well as balancing the needs of adults and children, so that it is impossible for them to satisfy everyone.GoComics did respond to our complaints about slow page refresh rates a few weeks ago, and the speed has seemed a lot better lately. Thankfully that big problem didn’t happen this week, while Dogsniff is on dial-up, or the poor guy might have gone off the deep end.
Love that image of Hobbes in front of the fire!As a kid, I knew it was a cold day when our two Siamese cats curled up with our six “ordinary” cats. And…WELCOME BACK DOGSNIFF!!!I don’t post often, but I’m a reagular reader — one of the quiet ones in this online “extended family” — and I missed you.
Sorry, I reserve the status of friendship to those I know personally. People who call others friends whom they have never met, and have no idea what their ideals, morals or character is truly about, imo, are using that term very loosely.
In this forum, “friends” is a avatar on a plastic screen for some it seems. “Friend: to add (a person) to one’s list of contacts on a social-networking Web site: I just friended a couple of guys in my class.” I guess you can use the term friend in this context.
For me, it’s more personal. But to each his own, if you’ll all allow it.
Your suggesting I take a med to get myself “down in the dumps” over something as trivial as a comic? No thanks. But I appreciate the sincerity of your offer.
Thanks, Dogsniff. When I first began reading your comments, it wasn’t long before I was able to “read” quite a bit of your personality underneath them. You have a certain honesty about yourself that is refreshing, and which sometimes comes through in subtle ways. You also have a softer side to your personality that is separate from your sarcastic wit, which is harder for people to discover. As a result, even though I have never met you in person, I am very pleased to call you my friend. As I am one of those who believe in an afterlife, now that technology has made it very easy for us to make friends with others at a distance, one of the things that I really look forward to is finally being able to meet my distant friends from this life in person.
It must really be surprising to the artists who have been creating these wonderful cartoon characters for years now to have such a large adult readership…and I’m assuming most of us are adults. They never really get to see this response when these strips are published in a newspaper or a large published book of strips.
It’s also heartening to know that fellow readers and posters went to a lot of trouble to stand up for the rights of a fellow commenter…and are concerned about his emotional well-being. Not everyone has the same type of humor and it is so easy for others to miscontrue what has been said in jest.
@ dogsniff…you are blessed to have made such wonderful friends here. There will always be those who happen to take you the wrong way so , somedays, one has to watch how one says things. Cartons are primarily a family show and one always has to keep that in the back of one’s mind.
@rogue 53…the goal of this site is to provide a bit of humor to one’s life on a daily basis. If that doesn’t do it for you, perhaps you should find a great book to read instead
Hobbs looks like one of those cosy rugs you wrap around yourself on a cold day while lounging on a couch in front of the fire. Lol Perhaps Hobbs is dreaming about his next rambunctious adventure with Calvin…you can almost hear him snoring…

There’s “a roaring fire”, but no roaring tiger!

Is Hobbes protecting Calvin from the fire, or is Hobbes protecting the fire from Calvin?
Puddleglum2 almost 13 years ago
Hobbes is blocking Calvin’s way to the fire, and Calvin is not ‘fired up’ about it!
