to answer some things said yesterday, in the book they said long hair, but in both the Celardo version and the Foster version, Jane had short hair(but different style of hair)

You know you’re in trouble when you start channeling Bob Dole.

The books make it quite clear, Tarzan has a hard time communicating because he has learned to “write” from interpretting the little marks in the books while he speaks no English. Later he speaks French but writes in English which causes further confusion. It takes him some time to realize that spoken language can corespond to the written word as well. The books handle it well, and believably (as believable as a pulp fiction book with a wild man living with apes can anyway).

The printing is excellent—Tarzan must have taken an architectural course.

You’r right. I am an architect and can say that’s first class lettering. This is just an interpretation of Tarzan’s message. People are taking it too seriously. Let us assume that the message was clear enough to convey that idea. Yes, the original story makes it believable. The top hat of the perfesser is hilarious.

If i remember the time period used correctly. If a lady was adult she wore her hair up. Only little girls wore it down.

We should remember, this is Tarzan’s memory of an event early in his life. He may have been under the delusion that his note made this much sense, but it was probably gibberish to the “professor”.

Tarzan was an excellent, self-taught student—-he even uses the correct apostrophe punctuation placement to show proper grammatical possession. :)= Now cut the dialog and onto the action…someone’s going to be killed!

No matter—Burroughs was certainly fun! —especially in those simpler days when isolation provided a buffer from all the tensions in the world we know and feel today.
