4-year-olds can’t buy their own clothes and makeup. Or cigarettes.
And they don’t choose to look slutty, or even know what it means.
I think this particular little girl would feel a lot less stressed if she could lose what looks like….oh, about 125 pounds of useless weight: her pushy mother.
@J Short; That’s the biggest myth going around. I know two people who were told that and they still gained weight after they started smoking. Kids shouldn’t be made to compete in pageants of any kind. It’s just an ego boost for the mothers and a lousy childhood for the kids.
Col — Wow…. It being 2012, I’m guessing you must have been not much more than a teenager back in 1917.
From what I’ve heard about Lawrence…. perhaps you shouldn’t say too much about your involvement in incidents that included succulence, figs, or strange behavior….
Beviek — Difficult to discuss on a comics forum, but I will say…
My father was, indeed, very funny, though he didn’t really make a lot of puns, per se. I always say it was him to whom I owe ..er…. that I blame for my sense of humor.
But he was a military officer, by turns, and sometimes all at once, brilliant, witty, difficult, loving, abusive, demanding, protective…… and sarcastic to the point of cruelty, until I was old enough to get the jokes.
So I was trained from quite an early age to be facetious.
By the time he got old, we appreciated each other more.
We actually became quite close in his last years, when he suffered from Alzheimer’s….

And then there was the girl who was eight before she was seven.

I remember the candy cigarettes. Fortunately, I could tell the difference and never took up any form of smoking, except log fires.

Dogsniff — no, but that doesn’t make it be nine.

Checked out comments to see what people said about the tragedy of junior pageants … instead got some wonderful smiles! Thanks!

The smoking makes as much sense as the pageant does.

I used to be a chain smoker but quit because they were too hard to light.

KOOL it, kid! If you’re LUCKY, your competitors won’t STRIKE the judges as having MORE MERIT. At least from their VANTAGE point.

She shouldn’t be smoking at her age!

It’s less about smoking than the stress of K through 7 beauty pageants.

It keeps off those troublesome growth spurts.

From child beauty pagents to smoking – seems like a natural progression.

Hey, Col — watch what you say about geriatric princesses.
I’m starting to resemble that remark.Of course, I think I have quite a few years till “geriatric” but I’m not sure the dictionary agrees.
And when it comes to ratios I, in fact, pretty much fill that bill, too…. but it ain’t 25/36 any more!
WCS to Leona Lewis, though…. yikes.
LOL
