Answer to question #1 – No, these particular Topsiders have never encountered dittos before.Answer to question #2 – there never were any dittos. It was just an illusion that there were dittos.

Petey the transport knew all about the ditto’s but the surface dwellers did not ? REALLY?

I knew they were stupid… but come on… Never say I made it before your over the river :) My first words if the dittos just disappeared would be “Lets walk slowly away from here and never talk about it again…”

The Dittos could have wreaked more damage on the Topsiders than that. In fact, no damage at all. I was a bit disappointed at first, but the Dittos (and Mr Neathery) are more smart than that. Therefore, I wonder… Is one of the Topsiders now a Ditto replicant? I know the transporters will kill any foreign matter that steps into them, and there are decontamination routines to stop contaminants from entering a Topsider city, but still…Is the remarkably stupid Topside soldier really a remarkably stupid Topside soldier, or an agent provocateur? Are we going to see a big fight erupt, just like Bilbo Baggins’ trolls?

No, wait. Dittos can’t make any sound (as far as we know), so they can’t be the Topsider who is talking. Maybe they could fake the transporters, wait until the Topsiders get on board and then take them away for some kind of interrogation. The possibilities are endless.

One thing we’ve learned from Linda is that once you let a Topsider mutate into an animal, they’re likely to stay on your side and not return to the Topside society, because the Topsiders will never again let them let back in. So you know they’re never going to switch sides back again.

i know the dittos cant really do that much physical damage but im sure they are able to exploit the suits flaw(the one Flask revealed to Linda) if they didnt do it is becasue whoever was controlling them didnt tell them to

I think that TS’ers last name must be “Hudson”. Reminds of that dude fighting Aliens back in 1986. He went from that attitude to, “We’re all gonna die, Man!” :-0

Hmmm, the dittos did nor caused any secondary harm. (Never saw any downed/mutated TSers.) They just instilled a little fear, then gave that up by simply disappearing. Now the TSers believe they won. I don’t get it. Unless the only intent by the dittos was to rescue our heroes and get the heck out once that mission was completed. If that’s the case, it’s the first time we see the dittos take a side. Otherwise, their actions don’t make a lot of sense.

Man, this is getting funkier and funkier.

Just remember, they haven’t gone away. You simply can’t see them at the moment…

Since each ditto is a single pixel, they could cover any object in a single layer and display whatever they are siting on! Instant invisibility. I think that is what happened here.

If the Topsiders eliminate all the mutants which live below in Endtown and many of the other “Endtowns” that are below the Earth (in the US and perhaps in other nations), then what?

Or are they (the Topsiders) are only ones in Aaron’s fictionaluniverse of our dystopian U.S. that had began their “mutagen cleansing” after WW3?

I understand the dittos going invisible, what I don’t get is why. Guess I’ll just have to wait and see where this is going. Were all the eyes and teeth just an act, to scare the TSers into not knowing that the heroes were being spirited away (if that’s even what happened)? Although from earlier depictions of the dittos that seems to be their normal manifestation.
