Back in the 50s everyone in the country (and some in town) had chicken houses. On chicken for dinner day, mom would have a pail of boiling water ready and just grab a rooster by the neck and two twists later it was ready for the scalding and feather removal. Chickens are rarely seen on farms today – they can’t be left to roam free due to too many hawks and foxes.
