Not everybody can benefit from college, people, and Baldo might be one of them. If so, he might do better at a trade school, possibly learning to be a mechanic, plumber or carpenter. Gracie, on the other hand, is clearly college materiel. Trying to give every child a college education is a waste of both the children’s time and the taxpayers money. Much better would be to see to it that every child who can handle a college education gets one and the rest get taught the skills they’ll need to make a good living.

Some just need a few years in the workforce to know what they really want. The best college student I ever met had been a manager at Albertsons grocery store for 20 yrs while raising her kids. She went back to college when they were in high school and never gave less than an exceptional effort.
