    has anyone ever herd of a snap and hiss machine? it was a filter system that you could ad to your system that would take out the pops and snaps. i tried to find one recently and no one knows what i am talking about.

    Dolby® made a good Compander back in the day. We called other brands noise reduction systems or noise filters. The shops that deal with vinyl or tape should be able to help, or maybe an audio shop that still deals with analog sound equipment.(turntables, tape machines, tube amps and the like)

    I still have about 50 albums on 7" reel to reel and the computer program to convert them to CD but it takes so much time to edit them it is not worth it to me.

    Experts? Experts of WHAT? I’m thinking with the wear and tear that makes them imperfect, it’s more realistic like you’re at a concert vs the CDs that sound so perfect and sterilized like a recording studio… is that what he’s talking about? :-s
