Satchel: Are you gonna answer that?
Bucky: No, it's a telemarketer. They're not getting a cent out of me.
Satchel: Well, they're not standing downwind of you like I am! Ba-dum-dum! Why are you mad? Did I do it wrong? Ba-ding-dong?
I created a contact entry for telemarketers with no ring tone volume or vibrate. They keep calling, but my phone doesn’t bother me about it now. (only works if they keep using the same number which was my case)
This is printed on a card by every phone in my house
This number is listed on the National do not call list, inaddition we no longer respond to Telephone surveys or solicitations for money or time . Remove our name from your list and do not call this number again.Thank you.
Once my elderly mother-in-law answered the phone. She is suffering from dementia. It was a hoot to hear her in broken English try to understand the call.
I’m surprised people don’t realize the simple way to stop the telemarketers… answer the phone. Once they say they are from such-and-such company, say “I’m not interested and please take me off your calling list”. It’s that simple.

If you hang up or don’t answer, they’ll just call you back later… you’re just making it worse for yourself if you do that.
@burleigh2 – that doesn’t work with the automated dialers using prerecorded messages. For the live people calls, I inform them that they’ve just broken a Federal statute and to take my name off their list before they get fined.
Mom does the pick up/hang up. Which means I yell hello as soon as I hear the pick up. I don’t answer if I don’t recognize the number. If its important, there’s voice mail. .Satchel – keep trying, you’re almost there.

My grandson put some kind of block on my phone so it only rings if someone who is also on my speed-dial list calls me.

Good one, Satchel! Give that little fuzzball some of the payback he deserves. (I do love Bucky, though.)

That has happened to me too. Dial #44 if in Canada, as I mentioned.

Satchel was very quick with that one. I love it.
