I’ll take a dog any time. Cats don’t need me and I don’t need them.

I like both but cats are much more self sufficient and that makes having a life alot easier.

Have a fun true story. Daughter when in grade school brought home a male cat she wanted a female can not remember the family had any females or not. Then when we moved she wanted a dog more a golden retriver we have a fenced yard prior house no fense and small three bd home. She did female golden cannot have puppies then a male puppy. Here is the fun part the puppy male likes to play and with the male cat the male cat does not like dogs. The female has tried to play with male cat and male scares her off not the male puppy. Now the male from puppy to grown dog has adopted some of the cats ways and still likes to play with the male cat. Gets very funny here.

Apparently, cats keep us as pets, not the other way around. :-D

when it comes to independence, my dog is very cat like. the only time he fallows me around is when i come home. when he settles down, its back to his nap time. and no cat was ever more finicky about food than him.

Birds also have tiny brains but can be quite intelligent. Court is still out. :-)

My cat is just this side of feral and pretty much tolerates only me. She sleeps on me and if she wants to be pet while I’m reading the newspapers on the bed, she will sit next to my elbow and reach her paw around to get my attention. She’s a hoot, but she won’t poop in the litter box so I have newspapers all over the floor. (sigh)

Cats can be sweet and cuddly. A properly pampered kitty tends to really like his/her person. One of my kitties likes to come up and snuggle for no reason other than just wanting to be snuggled.
