An older strip today—probably 1929 or 1930—the lady’s hat and dress look like that period—but Patyanne and some of the women fans would know better than me.
When I got married in 1958, the boss raised my salary from $225 a month to $250. One year later we bought a 3-bedroom brick home for $9,500 ($75.00 a month).
$5000 a year was good money when a new ford was $400, a loaf of bread was 5 cents, a decent three piece suit was $15 and gasoline was 3 cents a gallon.

Love Jeff’s business math. The drawing of the indifferent spoiled daughter is great.
