FB:It looks to me as though Liliuokalani’s insert towards the end of line 3 reads reasonably and respectfully…. (And I have studied Latin palaeography!)
Time to face up to it. You look like your aunt from Uranus.Let’s see how many friends you get on Facebook.Don’t ask me to look you in the eye when I say that.
AHA! AHA! AHA! Yay, Teresa! The Frog Blog has answered a question raised in late summer of 2009. Specifically the Fungus Mimicking Hopper Nymph post. I saw something weird happening on a hibiscus leaf in the flower garden. There was a small hopper interacting with a little white pile of fluffy stuff. Here are 4 of the sharpest pictures of that. Those pictures are twice the size you see them here, shrunk with HTML to fit the posting space somewhat like this text.I was unaware of the fungus mimicry but that has to be what’s going on along with some meeting between two individuals. I’d never aggressively pursued an explanation, though I have shown the pictures to entomology grad students and at least one Purdue professor of entomology (though in their defense, academics specialize and this is obviously out of their area.
Oops, forgot to mention, not that it’s important to the above, just after the last picture there, the white bit of fluff attached a silk thread to the edge of the leaf and rappelled down and out of there.
After spending way too much time researching mealybugs vs hopper larvae, looking at other photos taken then that show different aspects of the bug, and scratching my head a lot, I’m not sure which, if either, it is for sure. But one thing for sure, a comics website was the last place I figured to get any clues about what it might be.

Did anyone other than me notice the subtle color shading that Teresa did from left to right in todays strip? Truly a labor of love, that!
