@theSpanish Inq (I never do see you coming) …and the WPA did nothing (NOTHING!) to put America back to work after the Depression, so the whole strategy is flawed. Except for all of the public works constructions still standing, and millions of families saved from starvation. But except for that, it was a failure.

I have yet to see exactly how sending billions of dollars to state and local governments “saved jobs.” As soon as the money ran out, states and local governments started slashing jobs, which continues to this day. All it did was delay the day of reckoning for states.
And all those trees my dad planted in Minnesota when he was in the C.C.C.s (Civilian Conservation Corps—now there was a concept) were as useless as a lighthouse in the desert. Only the trees happened. The lighthouse didn’t.
