When the syndicate colorized 9 Chickweed Lane last year–without authorization from the creator– Brooke had this to say http://tinyurl.com/2s2xuu [*Pibgorn * blog, scroll down to Sep 18, 2008 “Holding the Line” and “The Purity of the Monochrome”–also “Follow-up on Color” Sep. 22]. Comics not intended for color may look cr@ppy if color is added.
Superlative Girl in a Black outfit–the horror! http://tinyurl.com/y9ngqpe It must have been gray-tone in Brooke’s original and the syndicate colorist was ignorant of the regular red color of her costume.
I don’t know how helpful this will be to people who didn’t take the Go Comics survey and have not yet “won” a few free months as a “Genius,” but I saved a bunch of great Gasoline Alley strips which I discovered in the Go Comics archives in my Favorite Comics collection. I went through and put Tags on all of them. I discovered that if you click on my name in the comments section, it will take you to a page which has a list of my tags. If you click on the tags, it takes you to the strip which was tagged. The tags appear to be listed alphabetically.
If you click on the tags which begin with G.A., Phyllis, Skeezix or Walt, you will have an opportunity to view some of the delightful Gasoline Alley strips which have appeared in the past. I stuck primarily to the Sunday strips centering around various holidays.
I got the idea when I noticed that some of the tags which I was checking out were for strips which had originally been posted back in 2007. Not sure if this will all disappear when my Genius status runs out or not - but it has been a fun trip down memory lane.
I guess the tabs must only work if you are a Geniius then.. I LOVE Roger Clark Art - they have all of those fabulous Autumn Walks. LOVE the stuff from the 40s and 50s. That is the Gasoline Alley which I remember!

So he is supposed to be Santa Claus!

I guess all the color went back to Rudolph’s nose. I for one would pay a small fee to get this in color all year.

No one has mentioned this so far, so perhaps it’s just me, but I would swear we’ve seen this old gent before.

Doesn’t he seem to be dressed like Kris Kringle in “Miracle on 34th Street?”

In some of the recent color panels, Kitty was orange. I remember in other Sunday color panels he was white. What’s with that?

Are you implying Mr. D., that the stranger is Mr. C. and he has his deer in for their pre-flight check?
