Realizing this is a cartoon where cartoon reality prevails, I would note that in those days only the nobility had horses. The peasantry made up the foot soldiers.

It was mainly about being able to AFFORD or borrow from ahem certain rich ethnics who at that time lent money…or cozying up to a rich patron.

Of course in those days the wealthy and ‘noble’ actually DID some of the fighting. Seen any rich kids in the military lately?

Marie Antoinette had some succinct things to say about that…

something like…“We have our valets to do our living for us…”

I devoutly hope that the evil slacking members of the false aristocracy of OUR time will end the same way as those of Marie’s time…and even more devoutly I hope and pray to live to see it.Here’s to Liberty, my American brothers and sisters. And to all wherever they are in this world who yearn for More and Better in Freedom, Peace and Justice…

Saddle sores are not calluses. True calluses developed over time on certain contact areas, but constant riding — long hours over several days — causes raw, open, oozing, painful sores.

If he says cavalry he will become a foot soldier, If he says foot soldier he will be assigned to cavalry, This day & age you get 3 choicesof career path, only to be given one you didn’t select, this is so you learn new things, that makes it easier to teach you apposed to trying to break someones habits.
