I agree! It’s good to see Joel & Rufus again. That’s two of us! I wonder if the realistic looking characters that Jim draws like the extras in this strip are based on actual people. Reminds me of Norman Rockwell’s use of actual townspeople in his paintings.

In real life, the bank would not actually send you a 44 cent letter to tell you that you only have 15 cents left in your bank account. What banks actually do nowadays is send you a 44 cent letter telling you that, since you only have 15 cents left in your account, you now owe the bank TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS for “servicing” an account which only has 15 cents left in it!

I always enjoy Joel and Rufus. And I’m enjoying the story in the dailies right now, too. I was hoping for a Sunday Tie-in, but that’s okay.

Everyone – let’s please not have a debate about the US gov’t in here – we get that everywhere else on the net :)

Nothing is worse than the homespun bad punning and ancient joke telling by Joel and Rufus. If they have the organ Arlo is after I’m checking out for a while. Where is Rover? Skeezix? Uncle Walt? Corky?

Of course if you are the federal government, there is no check and balance. You can cash all the checks you want; just print more money.

When did the government need a balance to write a check? Ever hear of a trilliion dollar debt? They are worse than a teenager with a credit card.

Yeah! Joel and Rufus are back again!

IF ONLY the government had to have a balance before writing checks…
