How strange that he would go somewhere and pay someone else to do it. You have been able to purchase machines which transfer VHS to DVD since at least 2004, that I know about. And there is now software which enables you to do the entire transfer process on your computer which sells for about $30 in most office supply stores. Of course, since the next step is blu-ray, he will, as she notes, need to make sure that they watch it soon!
The tape might not have been in a VHS format but rather from a micro tape. If they’ve long since replaced the camera, as it happens when the batteries die, they are left without a player.
