One of the rare times we see Five. Five and Patty aren’t doing too well though!

One of the few strips with nearly no dialogue. This strip is usually script-driven. Here it’s all action, all drawing. Schulz did all his own drawing and lettering, and he was top-notch. Also, the usual character issues are absent here. Everyone’s just a kid playing basketball.

I love this strip today. It’s so nostalgic. I remember sitting on our red wooden porch swing reading Peanuts comic paperbacks. This was one of the comics. It shows almost the whole original gang, sans Lucy and Pig-Pen. It brings back wonderful springtime memories.

…so who is in the game? Charlie Brown, Linus, Violet, is that Sherman? And what is the name of the red-haired girl?

My rude neighbors do this. They play basketball all the time, even when I am trying to sleep. They are very rude.

I’ve heard of grass court tennis, but grass court basketball?

Is that basket regulation?

Must be hard to shoot hoops when your arms don’t even reach past your own ears!

Never knew you could play basketball on grass.

I guess you have to, though, when the net is on the doghouse.

Actually, the original comic strip does indeed have Lucy guarding CB. Originally in the second panel before Patty guarding him in the third.
