I’ve said this before somewhere….when they get 3D right (ie, the foreground isn’t thrust into my face and the background looking miles away in comparison), I’ll see another 3D film.
It’s just a gimmick to get you to spend $10 more on the movie. If it wasn’t originally filmed with 3D equipment, how in h e double hockeysticks does anyone believe that this ‘new’ version is anything other than a gimmick???
I’ve got a kickstarter campaign going to raise the money to do new print runs of “Suffragettes Gone Wild!” and “Meet the Royals” (which never really had a full print run to begin with), Lots of nifty premiums for those who pledge, including a chance to appear in the strip itself. Go to http://kck.st/xOtwSS to pledge!
Kevin Drum has found clip-on 3D glasses for only $4, thereby eliminating at least one annoyance. http://motherjones.com/kevin-drum/2012/02/todays-shopping-tip-3d-clip-ons
Someone must tell the powers that be that not every film needs to be in 3D (at least until you can perfect the process so you can watch the movie without stupid glasses). They’re making a 3D version of The Great Gatsby! Explain that! What is there about Gatsby that requires you to wear stupid glasses? Some things are really dumb…
I now shun 3-D movies at all cost. And @Hugh: they have made 3-D porn. I haven’t seen it, but I have read about it.Probably the next and only 3-D movie that I’ll see will be The Hobbit, Jackson seems to be doing a heck of a job with the 3-D engineering. But it’ll be 2-D again when it comes out on BluRay/DVD.
Bad remakes of classic movies are bad by your own definition. A 3-D re-release has the potential to be good. Some of my acquaintances don’t mind the ones for Disney silver age movies.

I’ll consider 3D when you don’t have to wear special glasses to see it. (holographic movies where are you?)

How about 3D porn starring Power Girl? Scary…
I saw Avatar in 3D. That was it. The 3D was pathetic even then. Oh, I’m sorry, that was Avatar that was pathetic. My bad.
And I see no reason for the Worst Star Wars Film Ever Made to be in 3D. Or Phantom Menace, for that matter…
