My cat used to pester my grandmother and attack the yarn whenever she was knitting. all we would hear is her yelling “Come get this damn cat before your picking one of these needles out of him!!”
When I flew from Beiging to Urumqi (where the Uyghurs live) a female passenger was using HUGE wooden knitting needles to knit with. A stewardess was admiring her work. I was surprised that Chinese security let her take the knitting needles on the plane.
Women are gathering to knit in coffee shops, libraries, knit shops, and private homes. I go to 3 different drop in and knit groups and the knitting guild. If I had more time, I could go to a drop in group at least once a day.
I was winding a warp on my loom a while back and suddenly noticed that the yarn was wet. I looked and saw one of my cats licking it as it came off the cone.
Haida and others in that region use cedar bark fibers and dog hair to weave fabric. Quite warm and water resistant. Better than hairballs, even if you could clean and card them.

My cat used to “floss” his fangs on the corner of whatever book I was reading. He’d sit on my lap purring, then reach up and begin “flossing.”
