Oh yes they do go to optometrists. In fact there is an animal hospital in a nearby town called “Eye Care for Animals” and they do lots of eye surgeries on all kinds of pets. My Andrew, a Labrador’/German Shepard mix, got cataracts as a result of diabetes problems. Had to have double cataract surgery to remove the cataracts so he could see. Otherwise he would have been totally blind and I couldn’t have that happen to him. Got the Diabetes under control, eyes working again and I had a bill for over $7000.00. (I didn’t realize he had diabetes until he started losing weight and looking sick)
It was very expensive….but I would do it again. It was worth it to see him tail wagging happy and able to see his world again.

Dogs wearing contact lenses? That’s hard to believe.

This was before disposables when it was a big deal to lose a contact lens.

Real dogs wouldn’t need corrective vision since they rely more on smell than sight.

At Snoopy’s age it’s no wonder he’d be lost

You’ll have to remember: Snoopy is actually a human trapped in a dog’s body. And he’s no ordinary dog/human either.
