This is definitely one of the later strips—the car looks 60s—Jeff’s mutton chops are thin and see through and the shopping basket is from the more modern era.Gone is the nostalgia for most of us oldies—take me back to the late 20s and 30s , the pace of life was slower and simpler.
M&J were one highlight of visiting my grandparents in the late ‘60s. Neither the Davenport Times-Democrat nor the Moline Daily Displatch had’em, but the Kewanee Star-Courier did!
Have you noticed that their hats are also are more up to-date then in the past..
@Susan Newman, Father time sneaks up on you when you least expect it and then Bam, the next thing your at optometrist. Ahh to have young eyes again… “Or young anything again”
They’re not wearing gloves. They’re in a super market with shopping carts. Al Smith signed it. The look of the cars makes me agree that this strip is from the middle 1950’s.

You mean even in those days they had huge parking lots where you wouldn’t be able to find your car!?

Cars look early to mid 50’s to me. Late 50’s would be full of tail fins, 60’s would be more boxy and square.

I like the 3D effect in the last panel. Mutt appears to be walking right out of the picture, as his hat is past the top line..
