every year our local has a “duck derby”. i but a flock (5 ducks), and if i can a t-shirt. when my boy stops eating a particular food i am giving him, the shelter gets it. i help whare i can. my boy is a shelter rescue, and my next one will be also. most local shelters do the best they can with what they have. @ Turnbloommy feeling, absolutely. pop was very fast on the mute button…
Oh, I know. Tons of other irritating commercials out there. But the inspiration for this storyline came about when one evening I was watching a comedy on TV. Then, this came on. Talk about a frickin’ buzzkill.
Personally, I think they should just advertise in the areas that have the ASPCA. They aren’t in my even my state. If I want to give a donation it would be to the local shelter in my city. As it is we adopted two dogs from them when the last of our 3 oldsters went to the “Land of the White Rabbit” last July. They aren’t a no-kill shelter, but they try their darndest to get animals adopted. Some have been kept for quite a while, especially the one dog we adopted. She and the other one are wonderful dogs.
It is sad! Especially now, I may be losing my critter. I have really loved this cat, and there are several of my pet rats that my heart still aches about.

The secret is to watch TCM. You won’t see that commercial there.

I’ve got nothing against the ASPCA. But I totally feel the same as Clovis and Darin in the first panel.

Personally, I really like this song. Not sure if I’ve seen the ad, though.

I love their expressions in panel 2 and this tough little bear shows he’s just a softy on the inside!
