That’s not a hyphen. That’s a piece of spider web.
Because when Stan Lee created Spider-Man, he wanted a hyphen in the name so it would be different from Superman.
Both of them started out hyphenated. It’s just that “batman” is easy to read without the hyphen, while “spider-man” without the hyphen can be “SPI-derman” or “spiDERman”.
