Cul de Sac by Richard Thompson for March 09, 2012
Transcript:
Mom: Petey, why on Earth is your backpack so heavy? Let me see it. All of last year's addition worksheets? Petey: I sometimes refer back to them. Mom: "The Exhaustively Complete Little Neuro Comics Omnibus for the Anally Retentive"? Petey: Actually, it's missing the inside back cover of #74, and that's killing me!

Ruben has perfectly captured Petey.

If anyone’s confused about the art, Richard is undergoing treatment for parkinson’s disease, and other artists are filling in for him while he’s away.

OMG! It’s The NOT Exhaustively Complete Little Neuro Comics Omnibus for the Anally Retentive! Do you suppose the publisher will issue a 2nd, Revised Edition that includes the inside back cover of #74? Or is Petey doomed, doomed I say, to eternal frustration?

Reuben Bolling. Tom the Dancing Bug. Does some of the more finished comic strip art around. And today, he channels Dr. Seuss.

the backpack appears larger in each panel because the artist is closing in on it…. the table is larger, the people are larger, and of course, the backpack appears larger.

I find it disturbing that I too would lament the loss of a page in my treasured omnibus!

Petey reminds me of me when I was in school – too much in the backpack; I might have needed some of that stuff! :) I’m so glad that other artists are filling in while Mr. Thompson is getting Parkinson’s treatment. That’s a tough disease, and not good at all for a cartoonist. I so hope this treatment works for him!

I’m late to the party on this topic, I know, but WTH is going on with the illustration?? What was the name of the original artist of CDS??? Bring him back.

kirbey I think Cofyjunky is keeping us in busness. You may still be able to get your surf n’ turf yet! :-D
