I didn’t peek in a mail slot to see Josh when me were kids (we didn’t have them). Instead I would queitly sneek up behind him, cover his eyes and said to him in my soft Ginger Grant-like voice “Guess Who?”
I haven’t been following the strip long enough to seen the mail slot bit before, that threw me until I read the comments. A very Dill-like thing to do.
Talk about creepy – a teenage kid used to call us right after we got home. (He obviously lived down the street somewhere.) He’d always ask, “Is Kelly there?” I would get upset until I finally realized that I was “feeding the troll” (though that term wasn’t in use at that time). So I’d say, “Kelly’s not in right now. When she comes back, I’ll tell her you called.” That seemed to satisfy him, till the next time.

I feel like people might be a little bit bothered if I were to peer in their mail slots.

Dill does this so regularly, the whole Otterloop family looks upon it with a kind of pained whimsy.

@OldestandWisest – a stick might not fit through the slot but candy would! :) We love you Dill, even if you don’t give us candy!
