Frazz by Jef Mallett for April 05, 2012
Transcript:
Caulfield: So if you drink lots of coffee, it quits waking you up? Frazz: Over time. It's called tolerance. Caulfield: What? That's like saying running for years makes you slow. Frazz: Sometimes it does. Caulfield: Is it me, or did Frazz actually just get a little grumpy? Miss Plainwell: It's call tendinitis.

Tendenitis tends to make me grumpy too!

And the flip side of tolerance is addiction: you lose the benefits of drinking the caffeine, but suffer withdrawal symptoms if you stop drinking it.

Having just subbed a high-school gym class that spent the hour “running,” I can guarantee that (at least for this sample) the more they run, the slower they get.

I’m dealing with tendinitis myself from playing basketball too much. It’s extremely painful and haven’t been able to do any high impact cardio for weeks. Unfortunately, my weight and mood shows it very well.

“Tendonitis” is an acceptable variant. The preferred spelling is “tendinitis.” The “i” goes back to a non-nominative case of the Latin word.

Can you get addicted to pain? I am so not into pain…

I currently have bursitis and epicondylitis from weight lifting and plantar fasciitis from cycling, and a broken wrist from crashing. At least the latter is forcing me to lay off the lifting, which will hopefully give me time to recover.
