Zipper: Wow... what's going on here, Uncle Z? Zonker: As you know, nephew, I've long dreamed of openly growing hemp in the California backcountry... thanks to Prop 19, that dream is now within reach! This is a dry run of my new future as a small family farmer! Zipper: Wow... wait! Don't you have to have a family? Zonker: Well... eventually. Zipper: But how will you meet someone in the wild? Zonker: I think they have square dances.

Weed has the opposite affect on Zonker than it does on other people- it wants to make him settle down and become a productive member of society.

Zonker has always marched to the beat of a different bongo.

Square dancing and a family farm are never out of date. I think GBT means to temper the extremism he stirred up with last week’s sensational strip.

Square dancing, line dancing and the 2-step are three different things. I’m vaguely embarrassed to say I know that.

Usually, the crop is on federal land, so they cannot confiscate the land and have to catch the grower/seller.

Bummer that he has to have so many reruns, but I guess that is just what happens. It would be tough to turn out all that genius 365 days a year. If you go to Slate Doonesbury it will answer many questions about the strip. They have a rather extensive FAQ and you can also submit questions to GBT himself.

Yeah, not much controversy here. I wonder if GT will touch on the Afghan shooter? That would stir some folks up all right!

Spent a very interesting week doing political missionaryism in California’s golden Triangle…zillions of years ago. What a hoot. Thought I was back in Arkansaw. It’s all settled and settled up now, though.

Yup, this is an old prop 9 thread. Zonk sets his sights on the the Bay Area then gets sidetracked, just like Oakland.
They’ve lost a lot of their tax base, about the only thing they have left is Clorox and Granny Goose. They were trying to take up the slack with Big Pot, by sanctioning and regulating 4 mega plantations in some of the closed down businesses. Prop 19 failed and now the DOJ has lost their minds by closing down the by the book operations and leaving the gangster operations alone. _Harborside is one of the dispensaries targeted by the feds and is featured on the Discovery channel’s Weed Wars. The Feds tried to bust them up over taxes, by not allowing legitimate business deductions, on a technicality. As a result, Harborside closed down around Thanksgiving and before all the chits were punched on my Patient Reward Card!
I’m trying hard to hide my resentment toward government overreach.

Hemp and marijuana are of the same family. One you turn into cloth, rope, paper, food, etc. The other – you smoke. One is legal in Canada. The other is not. Both if I recall (and please correct me if I’m wrong – I haven’t googled the following..) both are illegal in the USA.
